Ask yourself If Our FBI Elite Can Put 2 and 2 Together?

Terror Probe in Case of Somali-Born Man Found Dead of Cyanide Poisoning in Denver Hotel

FBI terrorism experts are investigating whether the death of a Somali-born Canadian citizen — whose body was found Monday in a Denver hotel room with about a pound of extremely toxic sodium cyanide — is connected to the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

The Denver coroner said the man died of cyanide poisoning.

The cause of death was announced Thursday, but authorities haven’t determined whether 29-year-old Saleman Abdirahman Dirie committed suicide.

An FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force has been sent to Denver, although Special Agent Kathy Wright said there’s no information to conclude that Dirie had terrorist ties, the Rocky Mountain News reported.

While local law enforcement officials tried to downplay the incident, stressing that there was no sign of foul play in the death of Dirie, a Defense Department contractor said it’s likely a terror plot could have been in the works, considering the toxicity and reported amount of cyanide found with the 29-year-old from Ottawa.

“I don’t see how anybody could do anything but look into the possibility that this is a potential terrorist attack,” Dr. Andrew Ternay told CBS 4 News in Denver.

Comments:  Read the rest of the article and then lets discuss this for a moment.

1.  Somali-Born Muslim Canadian in the U.S. carrying 1 POUND of cyanide.

2.  Same or similiar name to KNOWN terrorist with ties to KNOWN terror group.

3. democratic national convention is nearly ready to start in Denver.

4.  Man found dead in a HOTEL room in Denver.  No known employment in Canada.

5.  Did I mention that 1 POUND of cyanide found in the room?

6.  Our news sources say ” There’s no link to terrorism”  “It is not known why he had 1 POUND of cyanide in his room”.  Are you kidding me?

7.  Had it not been for this “Barney Fife” bungling, what do you think he was planning?  Surely he had no untoward motives.  He was going to bake a cake and the recipe called for 1 POUND of cyanide.

You can be certian that this is the only character involved in this scenario.  Terrorist do not work is cells?

Georgia (Country threat level – 4)

Russian troops remain deployed throughout western and central Georgia on 15 August 2008. Despite a tenuous cease-fire agreement, reports indicate that Russian troops have been actively searching for Georgian military equipment and supplies. A Russian military commander stated that his forces would confiscate or destroy any weaponry they find to restore law and order in Georgia. Reports also indicate that a column of Russian tanks has advanced toward the city of Kutaisi in western Georgia. Witnesses in Kutaisi stated the Russian tanks and armored vehicles have stopped 35 mi/56 km outside of the city. Kutaisi is Georgia’s second largest city; a Russian military move into Kutaisi could signal an escalation in the conflict.

The Georgian capital of Tbilisi no longer appears to be at risk of being overrun by the Russian military. Military clashes have not been threatening the capital; however Georgian troops are reportedly maintaining a defensive perimeter approximately 6 mi/10 km outside of the city. International organizations have been steadily sending humanitarian aid into Tbilisi to help supply thousands of people displaced by the conflict. Russian government representatives have stated that Georgia will not be allowed to retake the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. U.S. President George W. Bush has stated that the United States recognizes Georgia’s sovereignty over the two disputed regions. U.S. government officials have repeatedly urged Moscow to withdraw and allow Georgia to retake the provinces. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is set to arrive in Tbilisi on 15 August to help finalize a comprehensive cease-fire agreement that could set the stage for a Russian retreat from Georgia. Further violence could still erupt at any moment, and travelers should remain vigilant given the fragile security situation.

Comments:  Historically, Ossetia broke away from Georgia, not Russia, in 1992.  Rebel factions in Ossettia started this melee when Georgian troops tried to retake control.  Ossetia asked for Russian assistance and got it.. How can the U.S. claim that Georgia has sovereignty  over a once sovereign nation?

Caucasus foes fight cyber war

 (BBC 8/14/08)

Armed with computers, unseen ranks of hackers are fanning conflict in the Caucasus. Internet users in Russia and Georgia have attacked vital websites in each other’s countries, in a virtual echo of battles being fought on the ground by troops and tanks. Several Georgian government portals have been defaced or forced offline by hackers allegedly based in Russia. Visitors to Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili’s website were recently routed to a page portraying him as a modern-day Hitler.

Georgia’s parliament and foreign ministry sites have also repeatedly been disabled, allegedly by attacks from networks of hijacked computers. Hackers from Georgia have meanwhile been blamed for targeting the websites of Russian news outlets and the separatist government of South Ossetia, which Russia supports.

Gov’t Warns Against Chinese Cyber-Spys

(CBS News, 8/7/08)U.S. intelligence officials issued a strong warning that Americans traveling overseas, particularly visitors to the Olympics in China, face a serious risk of having sensitive information stolen. The travel alert is blunt: “All information you send electronically - by fax machine, personal digital assistant (PDA), computer or telephone - can be intercepted.” In an exclusive interview with CBS News, Joel Brenner, the government’s top cyber-security official, urged Americans to leave all devices at home.

“Somebody with a wirless device in China should expect it to be compromised while he’s there,” Brenner said And those who must take phones and BlackBerries with them should remove the batteries. “The public security services in China can turn your telephone on and activate its microphone when you think it’s off,” said Brenner. China is one of a number of countries pushing active cyber-espionage programs aimed primarily at cracking U.S. national security computers and stealing corporate trade secrets. Billions have already been lost.

U.S. counterterrorism efforts flounder in North Africa, GAO says

Federal agencies agree that terrorist activity in North Africa presents a growing security threat to U.S. interests. Vast ungoverned spaces, porous borders and groups aligned with al Qaeda have raised concerns about the area becoming a safe haven for terrorists to launch attacks against the United States. But the agencies most responsible for implementing a key counterterrorism partnership program — the State and Defense departments and the U.S. Agency for International Development — can’t seem to agree on how to implement policy there.Disagreements between State and Defense over the control of personnel and activities, and funding fluctuations in USAID programs have hindered U.S. objectives in the region, according to a new report by the Government Accountability Office. In addition, agencies have no way of measuring the effectiveness of their activities.
