Algerian Counterterrorism Unit Ready to Fight al-Qaeda

(Algiers, Algeria,El Khabar) A new Algerian counterterrorism unit with members trained “in Algeria and abroad in the domain of counterterrorism” is ready to fight al-Qaeda, reports El Khabar. The yet-to-be-named unit ultimately plans to have 200 staff members “from different ranks and levels in the judicial police,” who will also fight “crimes linked to supporting terror groups like smuggling, narcotic traffic as well as arms and ammunitions traffic.” [View article]
